As you know Tyler Perry recently came out with a new movie entitled For Colored Girls

I have yet to see the film but after hearing the soundtrack I am anxiously awaiting the chance for me to see it. The music is sooo inspirational for all people.

Today I watched a video of a song from the soundtrack entitled FOUR WOMEN and it made me think of all the STRONG BLACK WOMEN in my life and I wanted to do a special post for all my SBW's out there.

This song is sooo deep, ive listented to it about 5 times today and wanted to share it with you. Hope you like it.

Anyone who has ever had an interest in fashion has heard of the timeless brand

Buenos dias! Today i woke up and decided to get ready con mi musica (with my music). As im laying in my bed, my roommate says to me

"OMG YOU HAVE TO START YOUR DAY OFF THE RIGHT WAY"

He passed me his headphones and I knew exactly what he was talking about. He didnt pass me just any pair of headphones..these were Dr. Dre headphones. These things are SIMPLY AMAZING!

They make you wonder how you ever listened to anything else.

school has officially started (not yet for me but whatever)....in edition to new teachers, new classes and new classmates, we get new and exciting fashion. The first day is a great culmination of months without school, months away from friends and (most likely) months of great shopping.

As I browsed through Lookbook.nu today I couldnt help but notice all the LOOKS that featured either backpacks, books or something that would just look great on a school campus so I thought I would share it with you all :)

This look is simple enough to belong to a student but has so many great fashion elements....everything from the boots, to the bag...#5Stars

I see this for the fashion forward student who isnt afraid of taking risks. This look combines the common "thrown together" look that some college students often have with a classic school look with the book in hand, backpack on shoulder and classic laceups

Ok, so school started and that means fall is soon approaching. This layered look is great for a day of classes then off to a late lunch with the friends. Gotta LOVE it.

When I thought about this look, all I could think of the Clark Atlanta University promenade. If you have ever been to it, you know exactly what I mean.

This student is on the go. No time for a backpack to hold me back (too much adjustment needed). Im ready to sling this on and be on to the next class, then off to a meeting #busy

This pic reminds me of my high school days back in San Diego, CA. Simple, classic and sophisticated while still youthful. The white cami combined with the khakis look great..with a light blazer over it is simply AMAZING! (dont have a light blazer? try a cardigan)

Every college student can relate to this picture all too well. No time to linger anywhere too long, ALWAYS ON THE GO. Fun colors, easy layers, great look for a college student :)

and of course I had to add this look in. I featured it a couple days ago. Its so easy that I am sure you will be able to pull it off. Classic navy blazer, yellow oxford shirt, linen tie paired with khakis and loafers (matching belt optional)

A few months ago I was having a convo with my mom about how the celebs of my generation are taking their talents and making a brand and this truly does amaze me...No longer to singers stay singers, they branch out to the world of fashion and some even enter into the corporate world. The sky is truly the limit.

One thing that catches my eye on a regular (monthly) basis is the fact that more and more athletes are ending up on the covers of magazines. On my regular reading of GQ Magazine, I am noticing more and more athletes on the cover..they are taking their skills on the court and field, mixing it with a designer suit or two and ending up on the cover of one of the most widely read mens fashion magazines.

So, like most college students, i spend a lot of time on Facebook, Twitter and Youtube and most of the time I am looking at pointless stuff but every once in a while there is something that catches my eye and in this case, it was something that SHOULD catch yours as well.

This young man, Jonathan McCoy looks like a regular kid, but he has a serious gift! This young man delivered a speech during an oratorical competition that sent shockwaves through millions of TVs around the world! He spoke on the use of the N-Word and his personal thoughts regarding this word that has polluted our society. He ended with a powerful rendition of "Lift Ev'ry Voice and Sing"

so i go to school at MOREHOUSE COLLEGE in what is called the AUC (Atlanta University Center) which is made up of Spelman College and Clark Atlanta University.

Of these three schools, academics always comes first but fashion and style are a close second. So today while i was doing a little online shopping I ran across a few shoes that I KNOW some of my AUC fam would simply die for!

These Marc Jacob College Ankle Boots are posted under men shoes but I can def see some of my Spelman and Clark sisters tryna step out to Market Friday or Hump Wednesday or even Thurs. my Nana is in town and I ALWAYS have such a great time with her! We have been shopping like EVERYDAY and yesterday we went vintage shopping and i picked out a few cool pieces and i though i would share them with you.

This really cool gold and silver ring. I thought it looked sooo cool...normally i dont even like gold, but i liked this as soon as i saw it.

And when I saw this bracelet with the greek god on it, I also really liked it! I was wearing a yellow jacket and it matched, so it made it even better. Its silver with a pale yellow background behind the greek god.

I still need to get some more jewelry..but im really feeling the vintage pieces that Ive been seeing.

im pretty much always down for a good laugh.....

with the exception of a few things...and sadly some of those things happened a few minutes ago. If u follow me on twitter, im sure u saw the eruption.

But my mother constantly reminds me to make things a learning moment, and this i shall. So my lessons from this:

-always surround yourself with people with similar humor

-never expect people to have the same maturity level as you

-age doenst necessarily bring wisdom

but most importantly, i learned a lesson from my friend

He even taped his finger tips like the King of Pop. The performance was truly amazing and pulled on peoples heart strings. The last part of his performance was VERY EMOTIONAL! He came out and got a bit overwhelmed during Man in the Mirror it was TRULY PHENOMENAL!!!

Whats not to love about this Louis Vuitton Monogramouflage Keepall. This unique bag was special edition a couple years ago, so finding one is pretty hard, but just look at it, its sporty and different, gotta love it!

As great as these bags are, they are just a tad bit out of the price range that im aiming for, so unless a miracle happens, i prob wont be getting these bags, but I will surely be on the hunt until I find one that I LOVE!

This is one of the "treats" the HEART ATTACK CAFE was offering...DEEP FRIED BUTTER!! are you kidding me? There is abso nothing appetizing about this AT ALL!!

So i gave up eating all #oink but there is one thing i miss...and thats BACON!! but who ever thought of chocolate covered bacon deserves to be in somebodys institution. That has to be the most random combos ever!

Check out this smorgasbord of nastiness. The worst of all is the chicken sandwich in the top left corner...the buns are 2 Krispy Kreme donuts...simply asking for a heart attack!

No matter how disgusting the food things are, there are always people ready and willing to ignore their stomach's disgust and try it! This guy is eating some jumbo mexican funnel cake that, if you finish in one sitting, its free...it actually looked really good :)

Call me old fashion, but i think im gunna stick with my fried corn. :) Its sooo yummy!!

What isnt to love? This outfit is great because it really doesnt require one to go out and buy things, most of these items are already in peoples wardrobes. Try pairing a pair of tan shorts (cargo or khaki) with a basic tee, a well tailored blazer and a watch..heels are optional and can be easily replaced with sandals or flats...add a bit of length to the shorts and this is acceptable on a friday at your summer internship

Simply heading out to the mall or with friends for lunch. Add a bit of fashion flare to your regular shorts and tank by throwing on a blazer. Keep it effortless with the rolled up sleeves :D

When i see this look I think of summer intern with a fashion conscious mind. I love this look from head to toe. I think it would be appropriate for most interns to wear on fridays (casual friday) and a small group to wear on a regular day

Yall know im not usually one for flashing monogram prints, but the subtle belt paired with understated shirt and shorts is ok with me. The brown louis belt pics up the brown in the boat shoes (an every day shoe for the summer/fall season)

The tailored shorts along with the clean simple sneakers, when paired with the sweater shirt combo serve for a very nice outfit that is perfectly acceptable for a casual lunch meeting.

Nicki said it best! After some inspiration from @Ashoto_Remy (Remy Jackson) I decided that I was going to give up Beef and Pork...and i we have been going with out the oink and moo for a solid 27 days

Today i went to dinner with my mom, brother, aunt and cousin, it was great (minus my headache/stomach ache) but there was one problem....

we went to Famous Dave's

If you havent heard of it, it is a family style place that is known for its BBQ. The pic above is exactly what we got. Its called the All-American and it has 2 sides, corn on the cob, fries, corn bread, ribs, chicken and brisket.

I sat and nibbled on my fries, cornbread and corn on the cob while everyone grubbed on the bbq slathered swine....lol

but it actually isnt that bad. I have a new love for Turkey burgers, chicken quesadillas and salmon...lol

may I have the language of origin?

The 2010 Scripps National Spelling Bee

I love watching this show. These brilliant kids amaze me every year!!

This year, 14 year old Anamika Veeramani from Ohio took the win with her flawless spelling of so many words. The winning word was STROMUHR, a german instrument to measure the velocity of blood flow. WHOA!

Today my friend let me know about a new and exciting artist with an AMAZING VOICE! Her soulful tone combined with new music makes for a great performance. I have no doubt in my mind that she will be picked up and become a MAJOR artist soon.

So the other day I went to San Francisco with some of my cousins and went shopping in the city to celebrate my cousins high school graduation. We had sooooo much fun and during a little break outside i placed my bags down on a plant box and look wat i saw....

A fly on my big brown bag. haha..I just thought it was soooo FLY (pun intended). It was a great lil conversation piece for us. So i turned it into a little photoshoot. This fly should be honored. hahaha

Their dance moves and smooth sound is capturing audiences all over and they are slowly making quite a name for themselves. Today was such a great day! Woke up super early to take care of some business but had a great day hanging out with the madre.

As I sat in the theatre seats with Kiara, watching Sex and the City 2 (great movie btw) a couple things came to mind but one thing in particular. I'm a FLIRT! I recently had a convo with someone who, to my knowledge, isnt single but every time we talk, i am always flirting. I wonder if they know how I really feel about them? How I wake up every morning and think of them or how the slightest mention of something great makes me think of them or how I sometimes go on their FB page just to see pics of them...oh well...Even if they knew they would probably brush it off with "Oh, James is just a flirt." I dont even know if this person will see this blog post but if you do, I want you to know that I am really falling for you. As corny as this is...... YOU HAVE MY HEART!

Today has been a true ROLLERCOASTER...i went shopping and got home and things just went DOWN!

shopping for humanity

So I love shopping more than you probably know. As I diversify my wardrobe I am straying away from the typical brand names and exploring vintage stores, small boutiques and new stores and up and coming designers.

Today I came across a store called COTTON ON. This store is truly amazing. On top of amazingly good prices the australian based store has a foundation. The foundation provides aid for several worthy causes including fighting child poverty and feeding the hungry. This was so impressive to me, so I will surely be visiting the store throughout my summer.

So I know they say "home sweet home" but the sugar rush has turned into a sugar AVALANCHE and im over it! I am a rising Junior in college and coming home is almost like getting put on a leash. DONT GET ME WRONG i have been outside the house but there are times like now that I get reprimanded for simple things like wanting to go to the beach. I just find myself getting so FRUSTRATED when i am forced to sit down and do nothing.

But I need a change in environment! I can not sit in this room for the rest of this break.
